Dr. Yemi Akinbamijo is an agricultural visionary and a transformative leader, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA). With a remarkable background in Food/Nutrition Security, Rural Development, and Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Yemi's contributions to the continent's agricultural landscape are nothing short of exceptional.

Before taking the reins at FARA in 2013, Yemi Akinbamijo held the prestigious position of Head of the Agriculture and Food Security Division at the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in implementing continent-wide initiatives for Food Security and Agriculture, making a profound impact on 40 African Union Member States through the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP).

Dr. Akinbamijo's expertise extends far and wide, encompassing natural resource management, market-oriented production systems, regional value chains, sustainable agriculture, and climate change adaptation strategies. As a thought leader, he actively participates in global discussions surrounding agricultural and ecological transformations in Africa, with a special focus on food security, biodiversity, climate-smart approaches, and organic agriculture.

With over three decades of experience in agriculture and rural development, Yemi has demonstrated exceptional leadership in various institutions with national, regional, and continental mandates. He has also served as a Diplomat/Head of Mission, showcasing his strategic thinking and analytical skills.

Dr. Akinbamijo's contributions to academia are equally impressive. As a widely published author, he has shared his insights in fields such as Animal Production, Crop Production, Ecological and Organic Farming, Climate-Smart Initiatives, and more. His editorial role in the esteemed Bulletin of Animal Health and Production in Africa and his authorship of the book "Crop-livestock Integration in West African Cities" are a testament to his scholarly achievements. As a graduate of Wageningen Agricultural University, The Netherlands, where he earned his PhD in Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Yemi Akinbamijo embodies the spirit of knowledge and lifelong learning. His dedication to research management, project development, and results-based evaluation has been crucial in advancing agricultural practices in Africa.
